Who Are We? The Personal Development Center researches the inner powers of individuals from an experiential, physiological and historical basis. These personal powers can be used by individuals to become essentially as gods in changing themselves and improving the world. PDC re-translates ancient documents that describe inner powers and has studied the modern application of ancient techniques with hundreds of volunteers in public classes for nearly three decades. |

History PDC began in 1975 in response to the large numbers of middleclass Americans who were curious about and interested in investigating some of the ancient yogic practices from India which at the time were literally sweeping the United States through TM (Transcendental Meditation) and other groups such as Swami Rama's and the Himalayan Institute, etc. Robert L. Peck, a well-recognized scientist in the field of energy conversion and storage, has directed PDC since its beginning. While heading a laboratory in Industry, in his off-hours he started teaching a special form of meditation free of charge because of the high cost of the popular TM. His classes became in wide demand and he started teaching Eastern philosophy and practices in adult education programs, in church basements, and at the local university. In exchange for his free teachings, he required students to experiment with other ancient practices that increased the inner powers. Because of the demands for more from his students, he had to learn Sanskrit and read many obscure documents that led finally to his learning of Western Christianity’s large-scale obscuration of the earlier teachings. He then directed his efforts into the secrets of the West and found the nearly identical results of the hiding of truth through institutional dogma. Over the years he was joined in his work by other very competent scholars and teachers who assisted in the further activities of the Center as books were written and the interaction of the students expanded into working with special relationships long forgotten in the rise of institutional control over individuals.

Today We are particularly interested in experiences with eros, agapao, or love as the prime motivational power in its drive for union with others and the outer world such as described by Plato and quoted by S. Angus, Ph.D. (See The Religious Quests of the Roman World p.291) "Love is as various as Beauty in kind and in degree…He (Love) is realized in a graduated series of different forms. The first is the love of beautiful shapes—of one and then of all: a higher step is the love of beautiful souls, which operated in moral words and efforts, in works of education, art and legislation; a third is the love of beautiful sciences—the seeking out of Beauty wherever it may be found; the highest of all is the love which rises up to the pure, shapeless, eternal, and unchangeable Beauty, unmixed with aught finite or material—to the Idea.”

PDC has relied upon volunteers and public classes for the experimental investigations of old techniques and their verification. Our research proceeds step-by-step with each step being recorded in a published book. The steps seem to become larger and larger as past and present, science and religion merge closer together as evidenced in our latest two books, Joy and Evolution and Directing Life. Because of the strong opposition by fundamentalists of various religions to the re-translations and re-interpretation of their religious documents, the Center's hundreds of contributors remain anonymous with only the principle authors being identified. The Center does, however, welcome legitimate requests for further information through this website.
